General description of the collection: The collection includes correspondence from Guy S. Meloy to the Director of the United States Military History Institute as well as twenty pages of comments regarding the inaccuracies of S.L.A. Marshall's book Ambush. As a commander of eleven rifle companies which participated in Operation Attleboro, Meloy disputes large portions of Marshall's book.

Guy S. Meloy, Jr. (b. Sept. 4, 1903, Lanham, Maryland-d. Dec. 14, 1968), General in the U.S. Army, graduated from West Point in 1927. Among many other assignments, he served in the first tank destroyer battalion organized in the U.S. Army and was chief of staff, 103rd Infantry Division during World War II in Europe.
